The Nationals Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Melina Bath has congratulated Baw Baw Shire Award recipients at the Council’s ceremony held on Tuesday 23 January at West Gippsland Arts Centre.

Ms Bath said she was delighted to have the opportunity to address, congratulate and meet with award recipients and their families.

“The Baw Baw Shire Australia Day Awards are a fantastic event that recognises the invaluable contribution that volunteers make in our local community,” said Ms Bath.

“There are so many good people doing great things in Baw Baw Shire who quite often flying under the radar.  They quietly go about their roles in the community and make our region a great place to live, work and play.

“Our volunteers form an integral part of our national character and I believe it is important to recognise them accordingly through award ceremonies such as these.

“While each recipient made unique and individual contributions in their individual communities, there was a common theme of selfless service, joy of volunteerism and community connectedness.

“As the Gippsland Girl Guides Ambassador I was personally delighted to see Gayle Chippindall as a worthy recipient of an Australia Day Medallion.

“Gayle has been a much respected guide leader in Gippsland for 30 years.  She is committed to teaching and mentoring young leaders with friendship, compassion and laughter.
