Shooters Fishers and Farmers desert voters to support #ToyotaTax
The Nationals Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Melina Bath has called out the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers’ Jeff Bourman for voting in support of the Andrews Labor Government’s new tax on 4WD
Dubbed the #ToyotaTax, the new tax penalises families living in regional areas.
Ms Bath said the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers (SFF) has abandoned Gippslanders by voting to support the Treasurers #ToyotaTax.
“This is the same tax-loving Treasurer who last week dismissively told Victorians worried about his new taxes on a Toyota Land Cruiser to ‘get a life’”, said Ms Bath.
“Knowing how many Gippslanders drive 4WD vehicles as their family car, it is disgraceful that Mr Bourman and his SFF party voted to support a tax that rips money out of the hip pockets of regional
“Toyota Landcruisers and 4WD vehicles are not a luxury car, they serve a functional purpose for people working and living in regional Victoria.
“4WD’s offer necessary advanced safety features for driving on our poorly maintained and
substandard country roads.”
Taxes in Victoria are up 36% in Victoria under the Andrews Labor Government and Victoria is the highest taxed state in Australia.
Ms Bath said regional communities will be forced to pay increased taxes for generation as the states debt doubles under Labor.
“I am unsure how Mr Bourman can support Labor’s tax and spend mentality,” said Ms Bath.
“Regional Victoria provides 25% of the state’s revenue, but Labor’s budget only delivers 4% of road and rail infrastructure back into the regions.”
“It is clear Mr Bourman and the SFF have deserted Gippslanders by voting to support the #ToyotaTax and allowing city centric Labor to further punish regional Victorians.”
