The Nationals’ Melina Bath has congratulated the winners of the Victorian Industry Seafood Awards in state parliament, highlighting the exceptional quality of Victorian seafood produced in regional communities.
Ms Bath who is also Shadow Minister for Outdoor Recreation said Victorian seafood is renowned for its freshness, sustainability and premium standards.
“Gippsland is a major contributor to the sector, and it was fantastic to see so many local businesses recognised at the awards,” Ms Bath said.
“Our seafood industry supports some of Australia’s largest fishing fleets, delivers high‑quality produce year round and underpins local jobs.
“It strengthens regional economic resilience and ensures Victorian seafood remains readily available locally, nationally and internationally.
“I was delighted to see Gippsland businesses and organisations celebrated for their excellence. San Remo Fisherman’s Co‑operative deserves special recognition for winning the Business Award, Young Achiever Award and Take‑Away Award for 2026.
“These achievement of locals highlight Gippsland’s strong commitment to sustainability, quality and community.
“Their success reflects the dedication of our co‑ops, commercial fishers and employees.’
