Delivering Certainty While Respecting Heritage
The Nationals are committed to striking the right balance between protecting Victoria’s rich cultural heritage and supporting the jobs and investment that sustain our regional communities.
Across regional Victoria, many projects have been facing uncertainty, delays and rising costs in planning and approval processes – slowing down housing, infrastructure and economic development when it’s needed most.
That’s why in government we will deliver practical improvements that bring greater clarity and confidence to the system. This includes clearer, stage-based timeframes to ensure approvals are progressed in a timely and predictable way, helping to avoid unnecessary delays while maintaining proper consideration of cultural heritage.
We are also committed to more transparent and consistent approaches to fees and charges, so proponents understand costs upfront and are not exposed to unexpected or disproportionate expenses. In addition, fair and independent pathways to resolve disputes will help ensure projects do not stall when agreement cannot be reached.
Importantly, this approach continues to respect and recognise the significance of Aboriginal cultural heritage, supporting early engagement and best-practice outcomes.
By improving certainty, transparency and fairness, The Nationals are ensuring regional Victoria can grow – while preserving the heritage that is so important to our state.
