Melina BATH (Eastern Victoria) (14:18): Last week I attended the Gippsland schools clay target championship, which was proudly hosted by the Morwell Gun Club, bringing together 130 students from 20 schools across eastern Victoria. The event showcased exceptional talent, marksmanship, sportsmanship and discipline. Clay target shooting demands concentrated precision and skill. Congratulations to category winners, including the Catholic College Sale, Bass Coast College, Lavalla, Maffra Secondary College, Lilydale High School, Korumburra Secondary College and our virtual and home-schooled competitors. Events like this do not just happen; it is the volunteers, parents, students and teachers that do the amazing work – and sponsors as well. Category winners include junior boys Jack Brady, Hayden White and Sonny Grant; junior girls Chloe Westland, Ella Missen and Audrey Heenan; senior boys Zac Sporle, Lachie Divine and Thomas Munday; and senior girls Clea Grillo, Ebony Passarin and Kate Perry; and the school that won the championship was Lilydale High School. The winner of the Mark Coleman Perpetual Trophy was Travis Hockley – and thanks to Mark for his ongoing support. I just want to say these sorts of events the Nationals and the Liberals will continue to support because we know they grow leaders, we know they grow champions and we know they are well within the proper realm of great sportsmanship and good care.
