Nominations have opened for the 21st Victorian Hall of Fame Manufacturing Awards.
The Nationals Member for Eastern Victoria Melina Bath said the region had long been recognised as a manufacturing hub of excellence producing products for local, national, and international markets.
“The capabilities and innovation of our manufacturing businesses whether it be in food and fibre, or new technologies and engineering is quite remarkable.
“Eastern Victorian businesses and individuals have led the way over many decades, and it would be a fitting acknowledgement for current innovators to nominate and potential win an award.
“After 21 years, the awards category of Regional Manufacturer of the Year has finally been introduced, and I can think of many local businesses deserving of this recognition.
“I encourage all local manufacturing businesses to look at the individual and company categories and consider applying for these awards.
“It’s important to celebrate and recognise the successes and hard work of our manufacturing sector.”
There are 15 categories for which nominations can be made. Awards are presented to both individuals and companies working in manufacturing.
Ms Bath said The Nationals have always backed our manufacturing sector and the highly skilled jobs that underpin it.
“The Andrews Labor Government must do more to support home grown manufacturing, support local jobs and develop technologies at home.
“Manufacturing is critical for our economic growth and prosperity – it provides sustainable long-term careers in our regional communities.
“Our regional manufacturers are world class, and The Nationals want to see a greater investment in these businesses to build jobs and further develop local expertise.”
Nominations for Victoria’s Manufacturing Awards close on 31 March 2023 and winner are to be announced at the gala dinner held during winter at a date to be announced.
