The Nationals Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Melina Bath is encouraging local organisations to apply for a share in state government funding available to increase support for veterans and to commemorate their service.
Ms Bath said three funding streams were currently open.
“These grants are aimed at improving quality of life for our veterans and ensuring their important legacy is both remembered and honoured,” Ms Bath said.
The three funding streams consist of:
- The Anzac Day Proceeds Fund which provides funds to assist with direct welfare support, such as living expenses, health and wellbeing, education and school expenses, transport costs and social activities;
- The Restoring Community War Memorials Program which provides funds to restore or improve memorials, honour rolls and avenues of honour around the state; and
- The Victoria Remembers Program, which supports projects that honour or commemorate the service of veterans as well as educate Victorians about their contribution.
Applications for the Anzac Day Proceeds Fund and the Victoria Remembers program will close on Friday, 31 August 2020, while the Restoring Community War Memorials program will close on Friday, 7 September 2020.
Applications are open to ex-service organisations, local governments, educational institutions and not-for-profit organisations.
