The Nationals’ Member for Eastern Victoria, Melina Bath has been appointed the Shadow Minister for Outdoor Recreation, a portfolio she describes as both exciting and deeply meaningful for rural and regional Victorians.
“I’m thrilled to take on the role because like me, for so many Victorians, the outdoors isn’t just a pastime, it’s a way of life.
“Outdoor recreation is part of our identity, it’s where families connect, communities thrive and people recharge physically, mentally and socially.
“Whether it’s camping, fishing, horse riding, hunting, hiking, four-wheel driving, boating, mountain biking or simply enjoying nature these activities are far more than hobbies, they’re vital to our mental and physical health and regional economies.
“Outdoor culture isn’t just good for the soul, it’s a powerhouse for regional Victoria, fuelling local jobs, small businesses and tourism across our stunning landscape.
“I am proud to be a strong voice for the thousands of Victorians who cherish the outdoors.
“As Shadow Minister, I’ll work to protect access, promote participation and ensure our regional communities continue to benefit from the lifestyle and economic opportunities outdoor recreation provides.”
