Nationals launch petition for Yallourn bus service

Shadow Training and Skills and Training Minister Steph Ryan and Member for Eastern Victoria Region Melina Bath have launched a petition calling on the Andrews Labor Government to reinstate a direct bus service to Federation Training’s Yallourn campus.

Until earlier this year, the Route 1 bus to and from Traralgon and Morwell to Moe travelled via the Federation Training campus at Yallourn. This direct service was then axed.

Removal of the direct bus service earlier this year has made access to the campus far more difficult for those who rely on public transport. It’s a 15 or 45 minute wait at this bus stop in Moe, or a 3 kilometre walk. I wouldn’t fancy either in the middle of winter or the wet weather we’ve had the past week,” Ms Bath said.

“The petition requests that the Andrews Labor Government reinstate the direct bus service to give Federation Training students at Yallourn equitable access.”

Petition forms are available for signing at a number of businesses in Newborough or available from Melina Bath’s office in Traralgon her via her website here:

Completed petition forms will be presented to parliament in February 2018.
