Nominate a Gippsland Senior NOW!

The Victorian Senior of the Year Awards 2019 have opened for nominations.

These important awards acknowledge older Victorians working to improve the lives and support others in our community.

The Nationals Member for Eastern Victoria Region Melina Bath said it is important our valued senior citizens are acknowledged for their tireless service.

“Gippsland seniors are wonderful contributors, volunteering to assist, support and encourage others,” said Ms Bath.

“Seniors are a treasured asset regularly giving back to the community, assisting the less fortunate and providing a much needed helping hand to a variety of community organisations.

“Through my role I am privileged to meet many of Gippsland’s hard working seniors.

“Senior contributions make our lives more rewarding and should be celebrated and acknowledged”.

There are a number of categories which seniors can be nominated for the Victorian Senior of Year Awards, including multiculturalism, Healthy ad Active Living, Veterans, Council on the Ageing Achiever Award and Age Friendly Victoria.

Ms Bath said The Victorian Senior of the Year Awards are an important mechanism for communities to celebrate our older community members as parents, grandparents, carers, mentors and volunteers.

“Seniors enrich all our lives and actively contribute to the economy,” said Ms Bath.

“It would be wonderful to have a Gippsland senior win a state awards this year,” said Ms Bath.

“I strongly encourage my constituents to nominate a Gippsland senior making a worthy contribution to our community.”
