The Nationals Member for Eastern Victoria Region Melina Bath is encouraging Latrobe Valley residents to consider nominating an inspirational woman they know for the 20th Victorian Honour Roll of Women.
The Honour Roll recognises the achievements and contributions of the state’s most remarkable women for their achievements in a broad range of areas including science, arts, environment, law, social justice, research, health, media and education.
More than 600 women have been inducted into the Honour Roll since it began in 2001.
There are three nomination categories available:
- A trailblazer – an inspiring role model who effectively leads the way for women starting out in a traditionally male-dominated field
- A local champion – a dedicated member of their community who has used their skills and expertise either in a voluntary or professional capacity
- A change agent – a woman who had made an enduring commitment that has brought about significant and lasting change.
Ms Bath said previous inductees came from all walks of life and have demonstrated inspirational leadership and excellence in their field.
“There are many women in Latrobe Valley who are doing some fantastic things in our local communities,” she said.
“This program is one way these outstanding women can receive the recognition they deserve for their passion and contribution.
“I encourage everyone to consider nominating an inspirational woman they know for the 20th Victorian Honour Roll of Women.”
Nominations close on Sunday, 18 August 2019. For more information and to apply visit www.vic.gov.au/victorian-honour-roll-women-program.
