Compare prices and receive a $250 Power Saving Bonus
The Nationals Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Melina Bath is encouraging households across Gippsland to seek a better energy deal on Victoria’s Energy Compare website and receive a $250 Power Saving Bonus.
The new $250 payment is available from today to all Victorian households who visit www.compare.energy.vic.gov.au to compare their energy provider and seek out a better deal.
Every household who visits the website is guaranteed a $250 bonus, however the bonus may only be claimed once per household.
Ms Bath said that while the quickest way to submit an application for the $250 Power Saving Bonus was through the website, local residents who did not have access to a computer or the internet could call the Victorian Energy Compare helpline on 1800 000 832.
“Residents across Gippsland continue to pay some of the highest prices in the state for their electricity and gas,” Ms Bath said.
“User data shows that 7 out of 10 households across Victoria can save money by switching energy offers, with typical annual savings of $330 on energy bills in the first year of switching.
“There remains, however, few opportunities available to change suppliers and reduce costs locally due to the inaction of the Andrews Labor Government, so the opportunity to receive a one-off $250 bonus shouldn’t be missed.
“With cost of living on the rise, every extra dollar helps alleviate strain on the household budget.”
Households that have previously claimed a $50 or $250 Power Saving Bonus will be eligible for this new one-off payment, which will be available until June 30, 2023.
The $250 Power Saving Bonus is separate to the Non-Mains Energy Concession, which remains open.
Concession card holders who source non-mains energy for their heating, cooking and hot water can apply for this concession to help cover their yearly energy costs until December 31, 2022. To be eligible for this payment you must hold either a Pensioner Concession, Health Care or Veteran’s Affairs Gold Card and be able to provide copies of invoices and receipts for payments made.
Ms Bath said anyone needing help to apply for a power saving bonus can contact their local Neighbourhood House or contact my office on (03) 5174 7066.
