Fabulous fundraising for Fishy Hall

The Nationals Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Melina Bath has thrown her support behind Fish Creek Hall’s January fundraising event.

To maximise visitor exposure the annual Fish Creek second hand goods sale runs for the January school holidays.

Locals are aiming to raise enough funds to repair damage to the hall’s flooring and undertake annual general maintenance on the hall.

Ms Bath said Fish Creek’s Mega Op Shop Sale is whole community effort which sees locals coming together to volunteer their time to collect, sort goods and staff the sale.

“After growing up as a Fishy local, I know the Fish Creek hall is a valued and prized community asset,” said Ms Bath.

Built in 1930 it has long been a hub for the local community hosting many weddings, funerals, birthdays and important community events.

“At 91 years of age, the beloved Fish Creek Hall is in need of a little TLC.”

Ms Bath said the people of Fish Creek are renowned for their community spirit and connectedness and the sale is testament to this.

“Locals love a good community cause and the Fish Creek Hall Mega Op Shop Sale has become a whole of town effort.

“Dropping by to fossick and find, it was wonderful to catch up with the fabulous volunteers and see the huge array of goods they have for sale.

“New stock is arriving all the time, so each day you’re likely to find something new!

“There are so many great bargains to be found and I encourage the South Gippsland locals and visitors to take a drive to see what’s on offer, spend a little and help the Fish Creek community hall project.”
